Classic Klipsch style with oodles of upgrades inside

The original La Scala, introduced in 1963, was designed as a smaller version of the Klipschorn. It has been in constant production ever since. The latest version, the La Scala AL6, returns with Klipsch's signature horn technology for a unique, powerful sound profile. It also retains a familiar, timeless appearance while offering exciting design improvements under the hood to boost performance.

Three-way, dual cabinet design

The AL6s have dedicated bass, midrange, and high-frequency drivers, which are housed in two separate enclosures — a top cabinet for the midrange and tweeter, and a bottom cabinet for the woofer. Both enclosures are finished with beautiful book-matched woodgrain veneers cut from the same sample of timber.

The tweeter and midrange are compression drivers. They work by forcing air into a dedicated compression chamber before it passes through the horn. To use an analogy: think about how water pressure changes when you put your thumb over the end of a running garden hose. Compression drivers are remarkably efficient and produce high sound pressure levels — a big part of the La Scala's room-filling and dynamic sonic signature.

Tweeter improvements for refined highs

A 1" K-771 compression driver tackles the high frequencies. Klipsch gave it a new patented phase plug that enhances the tweeter's sound by preventing wave cancellations and widening the dispersion pattern. The end result is vibrant, room-filling treble with better coverage and clarity.

Larger midrange compression driver

The AL6 features a 3" K-1133-HP midrange compression driver with Klipsch's patented K-406M Tractrix midrange horn. The horn is enhanced by the company's "Mumps" technology — a series of small, calculated contours along the horn's edge that keeps the frequency response even and smooth as sound leaves the horn's edge.

Folded horn woofer for rich, dynamic bass

The larger cabinet houses a K-281 12" woofer coupled to a folded horn that enhances the driver's low-frequency extension, accuracy, and efficiency.

Optional external crossover for optimized sound

The AL6s sound great when you drive them with a two-channel stereo amp using their built-in passive crossovers. But they're designed to perform their absolute best when you power them with three amplifier channels per side (one each for the woofer, midrange, and tweeter) along with the matching outboard Klipsch Heritage Active Crossover (sold separately). It uses digital processing to perfectly dial in time alignment and EQ balance for the most precise performance ever from a La Scala.

Have friends (and beverages) on standby

The La Scala AL6s are massive speakers. We strongly recommend having some help on hand when you're unboxing, stacking, and placing the cabinets. Each dual-cabinet speaker weighs over 200 pounds.
