Following in their own footsteps and building on the success of their extremely popular LINTON Heritage, British hi-fi experts Wharfedale introduce the souped-up SUPER LINTON. This speaker will deliver smooth, rich sound for all-day listening with any style of music.

3-way design with high-performance drivers

The SUPER LINTON is a bit bigger than the LINTON, allowing for some upgrades to the internal components. While this speaker use thes same three-way design as its predecessor, it employs a redesigned 8” woofer with a more powerful motor system for deeper bass extension. Both the bass driver and the 5” midrange driver are made of Kevlar, for muscular yet nimble response. They're both heavily damped with acoustic insulation to prevent unwanted cabinet resonance. A separate internal housing helps further isolate the midrange driver from bass vibrations.

The 1" soft-dome tweeter uses the same ceramic magnet as the rest of Wharfedale's Heritage Series. The tweeter's performance is optimized by the addition of a new faceplate that enhances wide dispersion and matches the transient impact and detail of the new bass driver.

Finding balance in asymmetry

Wharfedale Head of acoustic design Peter Comeau and his team developed the crossovers for seamless frequency handoff between the drivers the same way they approached all stages of the SUPER LINTON's development: through extensive listening tests.

You'll note that the tweeters are arranged asymmetrically on the front baffles for acoustic balance — for optimum performance you should place them with the tweeters closest to the inner edges.

Hand-veneered cabinet

The SUPER LINTON's beautifully hand-veneered cabinet features an inset front baffle and traditional cloth grille. Wharfedale constructed the burly enclosure using a combination of different woods to diffuse panel resonances. An inner layer of high-density particle board is fused to an outer layer of MDF with high-damping glue to quell any noise from acoustic vibration.
