Garmin's compact Approach G12 golf GPS handheld can go with you nearly anywhere, so you can feel confident when stepping on to any of its over 42,000 preloaded courses. It shows you yardages to the back, front, and middle of the green, as well as hazards on each hole. And you won't have to pay anything extra to keep its course data up to date. Plus, if you really can't relax out on the links, it'll keep you abreast of incoming calls, emails, and texts.

One cool clip-on

The Approach G12 boasts a waterproof housing that'll protect it from the elements, while the 1.3" diagonal square display on its round face offers a bright, clear view of important course views and stats. It shows you everything in monochrome, and you can switch to a negative display if that suits your fancy. And the rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides up to 30 hours of playing time on a single charge. The built-in clip and lanyard loop lets you wear it on your belt or around your neck, or you can keep it in your pocket if you choose.

Designed to help

The Approach G12 offers convenient buttons for selecting menu items. The Green View display shows you the true shape and layout of the green, even if you're behind it. You can manually reposition the pin to today's location to enhance your shot's accuracy.

Digital scorecard

Paper scorecards are inconvenient and wasteful. The Approach G12 counts your strokes and tracks your personal stats per round so you can get an overview of your game, including how far you hit with each club. Most scoring features are also printable from your home computer. The Approach G12 also packs a round timer and odometer.

Smart notifications for smartphone users

If you're worried about missing important texts, calls, alerts, and emails on the course, you can pair the Approach G12 with most recent iPhone® models and select Android™ models through Bluetooth® low energy, then receive notifications directly on its display, so you can leave your phone in your bag or on the golf cart.

For a thorough statistical analysis, the Golf smartphone app from Garmin keeps track of your performance over time in a number of ways, so you can pull up past games on your phone to see where you need more work and where you're improving. The Golf app covers accuracy to the fairway or green and for drives, approach shots, chip shots and putting, and allows you to set baselines to see how you're faring relative to other players in your group. The Golf app also enables automatic CourseView updates for your favorite spots to the Approach G12 when you pair your devices.
